Title Nicht alltäglich: Seelilie auf Kieselschwamm
Year: 1992
Language: German
Source: Fossilien, 9, S. 179-181
Keywords: Crinoid, Bathericrinus, Sponge, Retifungus, Oecology
Summary: A fossil community consisting of the seelily Bathericrinus semipinnulatus attached to the siliceous sponge Retifungus rudens is described. The ecological conditions for both animals must have been the same.
Reaction 1: Hess et al. (1999) devoted in their book Fossil crinoids a section on the Hunsrück Slate. On page 117 they write: By virtue of its attachment to the sponge, a spedimen of Dictenocrinus semipinnulatus seems to have needed only a short stem (3 cm) for elevating the crown high enough into the current, whereas other specimens of this species have much longer stems."
