Title A new look at Machaeracanthus
Co-Author(s) Carole J. Burrow (CJB)
Year: 2005
Language: English
Source: PaleoBios, 25 (2.suppl.):7
Keywords: Machaeracanthus, acanthodians, spines, Bundenbach
Summary: CJB stated, on the North American Palaeontological Conference in Halifax, that newly discovered specimens from the Emsian of Bundenbach, Germany, and a re-examination of some described specimens indicate that Machaeracanthus had "paired pairs" of ?pectoral spines. These spines differ to the "normal" fin spines of acanthodians. Photo: G. Oleschinski, University Bonn, Germany.
