Summary: The last part of the series concerns fossil collecting from tip heaps of the Schmiedenberg slate mine in the Hahnenbach Valley. This large quarry produced roof tiles from the fossiliferous layers between 1838 und 1969. It is very similar in lithology, fossil content, taphonomy and diagenesis to the Eschenbach-Bocksberg quarry. The dominant fossils are crinoids, and the number of species of starfishes and arthropods is lower than in Eschenbach-Bocksberg. Interesting finds include a colony of the crinoid Triacrinus kutscheri attached to a stem of a siliceous sponge, a Codiacrinus schultzei with preserved growth lines on the cup, a colony of conulariids and a rare edrioasteroid attached to an enigmatic substrate, a large cephalothorax of a phyllocarid crustacean (see picture), and remains of the fishes Lunaspis and Tityosteus.
